redemption

rescue me

from these dubious thoughts
from this breathing that stings
from the futures i lost

release me

from this toxic hope
from the hours long dead
and the needs they evoke

free me

from this mud in my veins
this unweary withdrawal
and its ruthless reign

find me

in the maze of your being

throw me out
and forbid me

to slip back in
to slip back
to slip

a melodic composition
but i'm not a singer
don't listen with your ears
listen with your soul

There is no rescue from the miraculous - nor release from the soul's secret longings - without the key to liberty, its door cannot swing open - you always have that key - you seem to have a map, I'm constantly amazed - come and go as you please.

Thank you.

As always your poetry Carolina is full of marvelous images that amaze me.

"This toxic hope"
"This mud in my veins"

The lines are genius!

Love what you've done with the assonance here. Little bit of quirky music that makes the words ring like a hidden chime. Bravo!
